Read 2 Corinthians 5:17 – 21

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Reconcile Back to God

You heard the good news and was convicted that all have sinned and fall short of God’s standard. The penalty of sin is death, but God demonstrated His love for us, even in our sinful state, Jesus Christ died for us. Reconciling us back to God, He became the punishment for our sin so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (v.21).

You are A New Creation in Christ

The profound relationship of being in Christ signifies our redemption from death to life. It provides the believer's security in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. He bore God’s judgment for our sin. We have been redeemed from our old nature and, as new creations, we embody a higher standard of excellence—a regeneration through new birth, receiving forgiveness for our past sins. The old has passed away and no longer holds power over us. Our newness is rooted in our faith in Jesus Christ, replacing the curses of sin with the blessings of God. This is the believer’s new spiritual perspective: we are no longer condemned but have become the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 5:17 - 21

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
