Read 2 Timothy 3:10-17
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
The Bible as God’s Inspired Word
The Bible is God’s inspired Word for all of us. It demonstrates God’s active involvement in the writing of the scripture. 2 Peter 1:20-21 advocates that “no part of the Holy Writings was ever made up by any man, but holy men who belonged to God spoke what the Holy Spirit told them. God’s involvement is so powerful and pervasive that what is written is the infallible and authoritative Word of God.
The Benefit of Studying the Bible
The Bible provides us with doctrinal teaching about who God is and the core principles of the gospel. It strengthens our faith as we grow in the knowledge of God. Additionally, the Bible is used for rebuking, exposing, and refuting error, especially in confronting those who deceive others with false teachings. By knowing the Scriptures, we can stand firm against such deception.
For those who seek to grow like seeds planted in good soil, the Scriptures are used for correction, transforming our worldly values to align with God's. The Bible also offers instruction for training in righteousness, providing a complete education in God’s will and ways, so that the man of God may be fully equipped for every good work (v. 17).
Applying God’s Word in our Lives.
Paul challenged Timothy to be imitator, following God’s doctrine, living it out as manner of life in all circumstances. Whether it is purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions or afflictions, hold fast and pursue Godly living in Christ. Therefore, being courageous to live our lives according to God’s inspired scripture.
Prayer
Lord, teach me to be strong and courageous in studying your Word to allow your Word to transform my life. May your word become living and active in my life, that it may be a source of light to those who need you. Amen.
2 Timothy 3:10 - 17
10 You, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, 11 my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. 12 Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
