Read Galatians 6:1-18

"For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life." (Galatians 6:8)

As Paul concludes his letter to the Galatians, he re-emphasises the importance of sowing in the Spirit—living in a way that honours God and reflects His truth.

1. Living in a Spiritual Community

True spirituality is marked by humility, gentleness, and a heart for restoration:

  • When a fellow believer falls into sin, restore them gently, rather than with judgment. (v1)

  • Carry each other’s burdens, demonstrating Christ’s love in action. (v2)

  • Avoid pride—do not think of yourself as superior to others. Instead, examine your own life humbly. (v3-4)

  • Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due time, you will reap a harvest if you do not give up. (v9)

Living in unity and support with other believers is how we fulfill Christ’s command to love one another.

2. The Foundation of the Christian Life (v11-18)

Paul reminds the Galatians that salvation is found only in the cross of Christ, not in religious rituals or outward signs:

  • Some sought circumcision to avoid persecution and to gain approval from others, but this was a compromise of the gospel. (v12)

  • Outward religious practices do not bring salvation—only faith in Jesus does. (v15)

  • As believers, we are new creations in Christ, no longer bound by the law but living by the Spirit.

We are called to walk and sow in the Spirit, living as children of God who are transformed by His grace.

Action

  1. Encourage and Restore Others – When you see a fellow believer struggling, help them with gentleness, not criticism. (Galatians 6:1)

  2. Carry One Another’s Burdens – Support those in need, whether emotionally, spiritually, or physically. (Galatians 6:2)

  3. Stay Humble – Examine your own heart before correcting others. True spirituality is rooted in humility, not pride. (Galatians 6:3-4)

  4. Persevere in Doing Good – Do not grow weary in serving, knowing that your efforts will bear fruit in God’s timing. (Galatians 6:9)

  5. Prioritize the Cross Over Rituals – Do not be distracted by outward religious acts; focus on faith in Christ as the foundation of your life. (Galatians 6:15)

  6. Live as a New Creation – Walk daily in the Spirit, allowing Christ’s transformation to shape your attitudes, actions, and relationships.

Final Encouragement:
Sowing in the Spirit requires daily intentionality. Choose to invest in what brings eternal rewards rather than temporary gratification. Stay firm in faith, humility, and love, for God will bring a harvest in due time.

Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbour. For each will have to bear his own load.

Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches. Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

11 See with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. 12 It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh who would force you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13 For even those who are circumcised do not themselves keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh. 14 But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15 For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. 16 And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.

17 From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.

18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.
