Anchored in Christ: An Introduction to the Book of Galatians

The book of Galatians is a passionate letter from the Apostle Paul, written to the churches in Galatia to defend the true gospel of grace through faith in Jesus Christ. The believers had started well in their faith, but false teachers had infiltrated their community, insisting that salvation required adherence to the Jewish law, particularly circumcision. Paul writes with urgency, reminding them that salvation is found in Christ alone, not in human effort or religious rituals.

At its core, Galatians is a call to remain anchored in Christ—to stand firm in the freedom He has given and not be enslaved again by legalism. Paul emphasizes that righteousness is not achieved through works but through faith in Jesus, who has fulfilled the law and set us free. He contrasts the works of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit, urging believers to walk in step with the Spirit, bearing the evidence of Christ’s transforming power in their lives.

In every chapter, Paul reinforces this central truth: We are justified by faith, adopted as God’s children, and called to live in the Spirit, not in bondage to the law. The book of Galatians is a powerful reminder to every believer to remain anchored in Christ, holding fast to the gospel of grace and walking in the freedom that He has secured for us.
